Mommy's Big 3-0!

Back in January, Emma's mom said an emotional goodbye to her twenties :( Patrick came to the rescue with a work trip turned family trip to Miami, Florida! We had a blissful six days on South Beach with perfect 80 degree weather.  We stayed at the Eden Roc Renaissance which is one of South Beach's old historic hotels and located right next door to the famous Fontainebleau hotel where Patrick's conference was located.  It's also where Kim and Kourtney Kardashian stayed during the filming of their latest show for anyone who watches quality television :)  Our 6 days were a little different than the Kardashian's, but we still had fun!

We lucked out with a room upgrade and had a balcony with views of both the beach and the city.

Less than an hour after checking in we were down by the beach!

And stayed there the rest of the afternoon

We took a road trip down to the Florida Keys.

And the rest of the week Emma and I spent our days on the beach :) Emma found it to be very entertaining.

And very relaxing!

Fun in the sand!

Too cool for words

Covered in sand head to toe!

To be honest we even tried eating it a few times...

Celebratory dinner!

And dinner with mom by the water.

We knew Emma enjoyed bath time but we were surprised by how much she loved the pool!  She splashed and splashed and splashed! She had so much fun in the water that we promptly signed up for swimming lessons at Boston University which we begin on Monday!

So far my thirties are off to a fabulous start!

12 Month Photo Shoot

We are very sorry it has been so long since our last blog post :(  We are definitely behind in sharing fun pictures and stories.  I thought I would begin with sharing our last monthly photo shoot. Here are many of our favorites:

Emma doesn't like to sit still for long anymore.

She still loves giving hugs.

She likes to brush her hair.

What's over here?

Emma knows a little sign language!  She signs 'more' whenever she is hungry, thirsty, or wants more of either.  Simultaneously she says "ore"!

And we love pointing!

Over the past few months I have heard numerous times from many people that Emma is quite the little dancer or cheerleader- mostly from people who do not even know her family's history with either activities.  For a long time she has been bopping away or clapping to music.  Whenever she hears a song she starts dancing away! She is also as flexible as a rubber band and during a jumping activity in class she loves to do toe touches!

At Emma's one year check-up we found out she weighs 20.5 lbs and is almost 29 inches long which is 50%ile for height and weight.  Her noggin is still way above the curve but curving appropriately.  Besides one bad cold/cough and two short lived runny noses (perhaps related to teething), Emma had a fairly healthy year.  Low and behold, right after congratulating ourselves with Emma's pediatrician for the healthy year and no sick visits, her pediatrician looked in Emma's ears and found out she had an ear infection!   The poor girl had not let on to her parents that she was under weather.  Fortunately she was spared a round of antibiotics and will go back this week for a follow-up to make sure it has cleared up.
